TOPIC: Plane Figures
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor):
identify the basic properties of plane figures such as types of triangles, a rectangle and a square.
The pupils are required to already have taught and learned types of triangles and quadrilateral.
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of rectangular and square shapes, metre rule/tape and protractors.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION PLANE FIGURES
Plane figures are flat two-dimensional (2D) shape. A Plane figure can be made of straight lines, curved Lines, or both straight and curved lines. The shapes are closed.
EXAMPLES OF A PLANE FIGURES
These are triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon, etc.
BASIC PROPERTIES OF PLANE FIGURES
These are figures with four sides, e.g. square, rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram, trapezium and kite.
TThere are four types of Triangles:

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson- time. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Guides pupils to identify properties of plane figures such as types of triangles, squares and rectangular shapes.
3. Guides pupils to identify properties such as equal sides, parallel sides, right angles, line of symmetry, diagonals of square and rectangle.
4. Pupil’s Activities – Identify properties of plane figures such as square and rectangular shapes.
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson….
Pupils to state the properties of types of triangles, a square and a rectangle.
