May 27, 2019 Dictation of Suitable Passages ENGLISH STUDIES WRITING THIRD TERM WEEK 4 PRIMARY 6 THEME: SPEECH PREVIOUS LESSON – DICTATION OF SUITABLE PASSAGES TOPIC – Dictation of Suicide Passages PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to write down a dictated passage correctly. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of: Course book Supplementary readers METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons. Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons. REFERENCE MATERIALS Scheme of Work 9 – Years Basic Education Curriculum Course Book All Relevant Material Online Information Related Posts Reading Comprehension Teaching New Words and Dictation Dictation of Suicide Passages Difference between Pairs of Sentences – The use of ‘in’ and ‘at’ in a simple sentence Talking/Speaking at Interview CONTENT OF THE LESSON DICTATION OF SUITABLE PASSAGES Dictate for the pupils – The prettiest girl at the party was the one who wore a pair of black shoes, an orange dress, carrying a small handbag. PRESENTATION To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps: To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions; Selects an appropriate passage for dictation. This passage may preferable be from one of those used for comprehension exercises from course book. Pupil’s Activities – Spell words given by the teacher. Dictates the passage – listen to individual pupil’s utterances. Pupil’s Activities – Write down a dictated passage correctly. CONCLUSION To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
