LEARNING OUTCOME

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

1. recognize the basic units of capacity.
2. do conversion involving litres.
3. do addition and subtraction involving litres.
4. solve problems on quantitative aptitude related to addition and subtraction involving litres.

RATIONALE

Liquids have no regular shape. The volume is calculated by the capacity of the container they are held in. Capacity is the measure of the amount of liquid in a container. The standard unit of measuring capacity is the litre (l). The concept of capacity will enable pupils to understand and appreciate the importance of various capacity in measurement.

LEARNING MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Sample of various containers
2. Chart Showing relationships between litre and centilitre
3. Water

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

In small scale business that involves in buying and selling of palm and groundnut oil. Measurement is done on the basis of a bottle, half and quarter with prices in that division. The capacity of liquid is measured by the pupils in their on ways.
