By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
identify and state properties of triangles.
identify and state properties of quadrilateral.
identify and state the Properties of cube and cuboid.
solve some quantitative aptitude problems.
Shapes are plane and solid shapes. Plane shapes in mathematics are any closed, flat, 2-dimensional shapes. They include triangle, quadrilateral and polygon. Plane shapes are made of straight lines, curved lines, or both straight and curved lines.
Many objects that you see in your day to day life like book, pencil box, ice cream cone, football and cylinder are 3-dimensional objects. All these objects occupy some shape and have three dimensions – length, breadth and height or depth.
In this lesson, the pupils will learn what plane and solid shapes are and explore their different types and properties.
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
2 and 3 dimensional shapes.
Models of: equilateral, isosceles, right angled triangles, square, rectangle, cube and cuboid.
Plane and Solid shapes are all around us. These stop signs (all traffic signs are plane shapes), a sheet of paper, a paper plate, a stamp, etc. There are many kinds of plane Shapes. Book, pencil box, ice cream cone, football and cylinder are 3-dimensional objects.
In this lesson, we will focus on the following – triangles squares, rectangles, cube and cuboid.
