PREVIOUS LESSON – 

TOPIC – Phrasal Verbs 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to use phrasal verbs correctly in sentences of their own.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

  1. Text, illustrating the use of phrasal verbs
  2. Phrasal verb written on the cardboard

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

PHRASAL VERBS 

Phrasal Verbs are made up of two or more words – a main verb and another words.

  1. Take in – always take in what say.
  2. Switch on/off – I switched on the fan.
  3. Cope with – she can cope with the assignment.
  4. Look up
  5. Carry on
  6. Look after
  7. Turn in
  8. Turn out
  9. Give up
  10. Give in

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Writes on the board  dialogues containing phrasal verbs.
  3. Pupil’s Activities – watch keenly and listen attentively to the teacher.
  4. Reads the dialogues.
  5. Pupil’s Activities – Read the dialogues provided by the teacher and dramatise.
  6. Asks pupils to provide their own sentences containing the structure.
  7. Pupil’s Activities – Provide sentences using the phrasal verb.

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

LESSON EVALUATION 

Pupils to:

  1. Construct their own statements, using phrasal verbs.
  2. Define what phrasal verbs are.
