LEARNING OUTCOME 

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. find the range, mode and median of data.
  2. calculate the mean of given data.
  3. interpret pictograms and bar graphs.
  4. read tally marks and frequency tables

RATIONALE

Statistics is the method of conducting a study about a particular topic by collecting, organizing, interpreting, and finally presenting data. Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median, and Mode. A measure of central tendency is a summary statistic that represents the center point or typical value of a dataset.

In this lesson, the pupils will understand and appreciate the usefulness of statistical data and how data are analyse using range, mode, median and mean. Also, how it is interpreted on bar charts and representing data on pie chart.

LEARNING MATERIALS 

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

  1. Data chart
  2. Set of data
  3. Population data chart.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

Data collection is very important in making certain decisions. The pupils understand that small family on the same salary scale will big family will enjoy more.
