TIME – 40 Minutes each.

LEARNING OUTCOME

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

1. measure in metric system the length and breadth of common objects and things;
2. record their measurements in tabular form; and compute the areas of the objects and things.

RATIONALE

Measurement is the action of measuring something. We can measure time, weight, height, temperature, length, speed, and more. If we didn’t have measurement, it would be very hard to know when to go to school, how much you weigh, or how cold or warm it is outside.

Life is so much easier when we know how to measure things, and that is why measurement is so important.

LEARNING MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. meter rule
2. tape rule
3. desks and tables in the classroom
4. string
6. notebook, and pencil.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

Measurement is an important part of daily activities. We can measure time, weight, height, temperature, length, speed, and more. The pupils are also involved in measurement.
